Happy Kids with Books

New Library.

"Research shows that when children read for pleasure, they get better grades at school, show more empathy towards others and report higher levels of well-being", affirms the Literacy Trust.

The current space urgently needs a makeover to create an inviting atmosphere for browsing books and a comfortable seating area for reading. Most of the books are currently organised in plastic boxes, which does not showcase their potential. While we're actively pursuing grant applications for initiatives like love4books and the Foyle Foundation, we still need to raise £6,000 as soon as possible to bring the project to life. With your immediate support, we can make our dream of a library a reality.

Check out the current space and the project we want to make a reality. Please consider donating any amount towards the project.

Library Project

The current library is in the middle of a corridor within the main building. We want to create cosy spots where students can read quietly and get into your books. The project was developed by Book Space, but Beth Ivey, who is an interior designer, will help us to make the best use of the space. We're also adding a heritage wall showcasing pictures and stories of the school.

Milestone Wall in the Library.

In 2024, Yardley Primary School is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Celebrating the school's legacy honours the institution's history, achievements, and contributions to the community. It promotes a sense of pride, strengthens community bonds, and inspires current and future generations, creating a shared identity and appreciation for the school's lasting impact.

We want to immerse our kids in the history of Yardley Primary School as they browse through old yearbooks, photos, and memorabilia, capturing the essence of our school. Share your stories, photos, memories, and experiences as we aim to foster a sense of pride and community. Send your story or photos to yardleypta@gmail.com

Kids in Slide

Early Years Playground.

Next year, Yardley Primary School is preparing to welcome three new reception classes, which will undoubtedly strain our current facilities.

Currently, the  early years playground space primarily features a large centerpiece slide. Our vision is to transform this area into a dynamic playground that offers our little learners a rich outdoor experience. This includes incorporating elements such as a mud kitchen, sand pit, balance stands, and a kitchen garden. By creating this engaging outdoor environment, we aim to promote exploration, creativity, and hands-on learning for our little students, enhancing their overall development and well-being.

The project costs just £5,000, yet it has the potential to transform the school experience for 150 children! Please donate now.

Outdoor Education

Gardening Club and Outdoor Learning.

The school possess an outstanding and underutilised outdoor space. We want to restore the kitchen garden and implement  outdoor learning as part of the academic curriculum.

Studies show
the benefits spending more time outdoors include improved physical health, increased cognitive development, enhanced creativity, better emotional well-being, and a stronger connection with nature. It also nurtures holistic development, cultivating a love for nature and hands-on learning, providing students with valuable experiences for physical well-being and environmental awareness.

The gardening club and outdoor learning are all about having fun while learning in nature!

We are still working on the quotation to implement the gardening club. But, Natural Escape developed a beautiful project for Yardley School - Outdoor learning project. The investment to implement all year around outdoor learning is £50k. If you would like to contribute to this project, please contact us.

Outdoor Learning Project

If you would like to contribute to this exciting project and help enrich our space, Natural Escapes has developed an amazing plan with a beautiful canopy kite that can be used all year round, a fire pit, a storyteller corner, a den-building kit, a bug hotel, and a bird scramble nest. Outdoor learning is incredibly important for primary school children as it provides hands-on experiences, promotes physical activity and healthy lifestyles, enhances social and emotional development, encourages curiosity and exploration, fosters a deeper connection with nature, and improves overall academic engagement and achievement. See the current space and the plan to transform it.
