Yardley PTA March 2025 Newsletter

As we journey into the second half of the school year, we’re excited to share updates on ongoing projects, upcoming events, and ways you can get involved to support our school. Thanks to your support, we are finally bringing some of our projects to life—something we can all be proud of! When you support the PTA, our children benefit the most—together, we’re creating opportunities for them to learn, play, grow, and make unforgettable school memories.

Forest School Crowdfunding Campaign

As part of our Outdoor Classroom project, we’re planning to implement a Forest School to offer children hands-on learning in nature. We launched a crowdfunding campaign to help make this vision a reality. Please share the link with friends and family (https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/yardleypta) .We’ve also printed 2,500 flyers and plan to distribute them around the neighbourhood, alongside launching a social media campaign. If you’d like to help by dropping flyers door-to-door and spreading the word about our fundraising campaign, please let us know—we’d love to have you on board! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram @yardleypta.

Upcoming Events Save the Date

We’re excited to celebrate Mother’s Day with our traditional stand on 28th March, where children can use their pocket money to choose a special gift. With a range of lovely options priced from £1 to £5, it’s a wonderful way to empower them to give something from the heart—so start saving those coins! And to wrap up the term in a big celebration, we’re planning a fun-filled family gathering on the last day of the term (04/04) with food truck and a lot of fun for the whole family. Save the dates!

Volunteers Needed

We’re looking for volunteers to support our events in March and April, including Mother’s Day and Family Day on 4th April. Whether you can lend a hand for an hour or the whole event, your help makes a big difference. If you’d like to get involved in any of the above projects or events, please reach out to us at committee@yardley

Kitchen Garden – Register Your Interest

Our Kitchen Garden Project is taking shape, and we’re still welcoming families interested in getting involved. Whether your little one have green fingers or simply want to learn, your contribution will help us create a sustainable and enriching space for the children. Please email us (committee@yardleypta.co.uk) with your child’s name and class by 4th April to express your interest. We may need a small financial contribution—if you’re able to donate £3 or £5, please let us know. We’ve now put a plan together and will be presenting it to the school for final approval. Keep an eye on WhatsApp class group for updates.

We’re looking for volunteers to join the OrganicLea team next Monday, 10/03 from 9:30 AM to help clear the area and cut back the brambles. It is a way for us to keep the cost down! If you can lend a hand, please contact your class rep or email us with your name and phone number. Please bring a heavy duty pair of garden gloves, wellies, weather-appropriate clothing and cutting&pruning scissors (if you have one).

Early Years Playground Improvements

We’re delighted to share that we’ve purchased a Mud Kitchen and sensory toys for the Early Years playground using the Tesco Grand and donations received.

To help create an even better environment, we’re looking for volunteers to paint the playground fence and other wooden equipment. If you are available to help, please get in touch. We are planning to start the painting on the last week of the term (sooner if we get the donations before that). We would greatly appreciate donations of light oil-based paint (outdoor wood paint) and any paint accessories such as brushes, rollers, and trays.

Library Kick-Off Meeting

Our school library project is about to begin! The kick-off meeting with Mr Roberts and Beth Ivy took place on 27th February. This is an exciting step towards creating an inspiring reading space for our children. Beth Ivy will detail the project and work on the mural inspired on the Epping Forest. We’ll be looking for volunteers to help organise books and set up the space – stay tuned for more details!

Preloved Shop – Sustainable Shopping

Don’t forget about our Preloved Shop, where you can find second-hand school uniforms and other items at affordable prices. It’s a great way to support our sustainability efforts while giving items a second life.
