The Summer Fair was an absolute success! With the sun shining brightly and nearly 1,000 attendees, it was a fun and memorable day for our children and community. We also enjoyed an emotional reunion with former students and teachers. This newsletter will share the event's results, updates about the Tesco Stong Starts and the library project.
Before we delve into the Summer Fair proper, I have some exciting news. The Tesco Strong Starts vote started on 1st July and will run until the end of September. Your support can make a real difference for all children attending reception and nursery. To vote, shop at one of the three Tesco stores listed below and deposit a blue coin. We hope to secure first place and win £1,500, which will fund the Early Years Playground sensory area, a project that will significantly benefit our children.

The Summer Fair 2024
The Summer Fair, our biggest event of the year, was an opportunity for families, teachers, and residents to connect, have fun, and enjoy a summer day together. The event fosters community, strengthens relationships, and builds lasting memories while supporting our school's programmes and initiatives. Behind the scenes, the committee engaged in a lot of work. The numbers speak for themselves. We reached 11,844 people via Social Media thanks to an amazing social media campaign, increased our website traffic exponentially. We also distributed nearly 5,000 flyers and as a result we had around 1,000 adult attendees.
To make the event memorable, we engaged with local businesses, with 23 advertising in our summer booklet, securing over 47 donations for our raffle and had 15 stalls selling food and various products. Emphasis was on fun and entertainment which included inflatables, pony rides, Morris Dancers, a fire engine visit, dance club display, cricket, football and fun challenges at the Nuffield stand. We raised £4,063 and £858 from the raffle. We will present our detailed P&L at the AGM planned for 13th September.
The raffle draw took place at 2:30 during the Summer Fair, where we announced the 47 lucky winners. Prize winners have been contacted via text message. If you have any questions please emails us.
As you know, photographer Natalie Goldie generously supported us by taking photos at the Fair. The photos are available for free download at the link below. We received fantastic feedback about the event, but we are aware that we have opportunities to improve for next year. So, please join the forum and discuss what we can do better. Please take 5 minutes to answer the feedback form.
We should all be very proud of our accomplishments—everyone who attended and all those who helped. As you would expect, behind the scenes, much work goes into running and managing this charity. So, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dilan, Heidi, Mike, and Roger for their countless hours and dedication. Seeing the engagement and support from our community boosted our energy and helped us focus on our mission: to provide resources, programmes, and initiatives that enhance our students' educational journey and foster a love for learning and achievement. It is the community engagement and the smiles of our children that make it all worth it.
In celebration of our 85th anniversary, we successfully hosted an alumni reunion with former teachers and students. It was a profoundly emotional gathering where cherished memories were shared. We witnessed tears as fond memories were recounted and laughter from tales of mischievous students. What stood out most was the pride and joy we all share in our school. The legacy we have built over the years is truly remarkable, and we, the current generation of "Yardlies", must honour and uphold it. Enjoy the video, the PTA created to celebrate it.
Library Project / Early Years Playground We are awaiting the results of our grant applications to determine how much additional funding is needed. The committee will also reach out to companies for sponsorship. If your company is interested in contributing, please email us at committee@yardleypta.co.uk. We may also consider a crowdfunding campaign to ensure the success of this project. For now, wish us luck as we await the outcome of our £10k grant applications.
